Welcome to the USDA
Forest Service Volunteer Program!

As a values-based, purpose-driven, relationship-focused agency, the USDA Forest Service encourages and invites community and citizen engagement. Our core values of service, conservation, interdependence, diversity, and safety underpin our work together. This is who we are and how we work.
The Forest Service offers volunteer opportunities for people of all ages with varying levels of skill, ability, and interests. Since 1972, over 3 million volunteers and service participants have provided approximately 130 million hours of service to support our mission of caring for the land and serving the people. This shared stewardship helps us conserve the public lands legacy for future generations.
This website serves as a resource for those interested in volunteering, current volunteers, existing program partners, and anyone else who would like to learn more about the Forest Service Volunteer Program.
We are so excited to work with all of you—welcome!

“Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it’s the only thing that has.”
